JOE WALSH ANNOUNCES
NEW SOLO ALBUM DETAILS

MusicWire Magazine - Joe Walsh of The Eagles is gearing up to release his first solo album in 18 years.
Walsh tells Ultimate Classic Rock that he has completed work on the record, which will be called “Analog Man,” and should be released sometime in the winter of 2012.
“I know in the past, I’ve had screwy album titles, but I decided to call it ‘Analog Man’," Joe explains. “Because, you know, my generation of musicians, we grew up analog, and now it’s a digital wor ld. We had to learn it, you know? Everything’s totally different. There’s no record companies — who knew that would happen? They were so powerful when I was young!”
“This is my first real experience doing my music digitally,” Walsh continues. “In the old days, there was more of a tendency to set up the band, mic everything, record the whole band together and when you got a good take, that was it.  You couldn’t go in and make everything perfect. Nowadays, music is constructed. Musicians come in and play their part, and you put them on one at a time.”
Fans can expect to hear a song or two, including the title track (sample lyrics: “I’m an analog man in a digital world / I’m gonna get me an analog girl / Who loves me for what I am”) from "Analog Man" when Walsh sets out on a 3-week solo tour, beginning October 11 in Austin, Texas.
This will be Joe’s first solo effort since 1992’s “Songs for a Dying Planet.”

EAGLES TO LAUNCH 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR IN 2012

MusicWire Magazine - The Eagles will celebrate their upcoming 40th anniversary with a retrospective tour next year, guitarist Joe Walsh tells Rolling Stone.
The band is going to freshen up their live show from past tours to give fans something they haven’t quite seen before.
"Everybody's seen our show, so we have to put together something new," says Walsh. "We've been archiving so much stuff from the band's early days, concert footage and interviews and stuff. Those will be the visuals to go along with the songs. We'll also revisit some old songs and some new stuff."
Joe says The Eagles plan to tour for four or five months in the second half of 2012.
Walsh just finished work on “Analog Man,” his first solo album since 1992, which he hopes to release in February or March; the guitarist is also talking about trying to get a James Gang tour in before The Eagles hit the road.
PAUL RODGERS GETS SONGWRITING AWARD
The American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) proudly presented the 2010 Songwriting Award in recognition of the hit track "Bad Company" to Paul Rodgers.
The award was given out in London recently and was accepted by Rodgers' son, musician Steve Rodgers. Paul was unable to attend the event as he was in New York where he was performing two nights at the Beacon Theatre as Joe Bonamassa's special guest.
"Bad Company" hit the top of the chart in the U.S. last year when Las Vegas-based metallers Five Finger Death Punch recorded and released their version.
The original track was released as the third single from the 1974 Bad Company self-titled debut album. Co-written by Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke, the song's meaning comes from the movie of the same name featuring Jeff Bridges and Barry Brown.
It is also a rare instance of the artist, album and song names being the same; other examples include "Black Sabbath" (1970) and "Iron Maiden" (1980).

RIHANNA SAMPLES
METALLICA ON NEW ALBUM
MusicWire Magazine - Pop superstar Rihanna is getting a little heavy on at least one track on her new album, “Talk That Talk,” and she went to the right place to do that – Metallica.
Advance previews of the record, due November 21, say the track "Red Lipstick" features a sample of Metallica’s “Wherever I May Roam,” with the tune’s heavy guitar riff featured at the beginning of the Rihanna song.
“Red Lipstick” is reportedly credited as being written/produced by The-Dream, Rihanna, James HetfieldLars Ulrich, William Kennard, and Saul Milton. The song features the Metallica riffage plus samples “Saxon” by Chase and Status.
Audio leaks on the song, so far, don’t feature the opening section with the Metallica heaviness….so we’ll wait for something to surface.
“Wherever I May Roam” was on Metallica’s 1991 self-titled record, commonly referred to as the “Black Album,” based on its cover. Metallica have just announced that they will play the album in its entirety during their headlining set at Download 2012, to mark the disc’s 20th anniversary.
THE WHO LAUNCH TEEN
CANCER PROGRAM AT UCLA

Rock legends Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who have always said they owe much of their musical success to teenagers.
In a heartfelt repayment, Roger Daltrey announced the launch of the UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program, which will serve teens and young adult cancer patients at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
The vision of the program is to ensure that every young person receives the best possible care and professional support to help them meet the physical and emotional challenges of a cancer diagnosis. The belief is that teenagers and young adults shouldn't stop enjoying their youth just because they have cancer.
"At a time when your body is changing, your social life is everything and you're still trying to figure out who you are, getting cancer can seem like an impossible blow to take," Daltrey said. "We believe that teenagers have a much better chance in their fight against cancer if they are treated by experts specializing in their care in a compassionate environment tailored to their needs."
"I hope that our fans will really get behind Who Cares and do their bit to make a difference to young people living with cancer," Daltrey added. "We are grateful to UCLA for helping bring the treatment successes we've made with young people in the U.K. to teens in America."
Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, who has been closely involved with the program in the U.K., also lend his support to the program at UCLA.
"We hope to bring the success of the Teenage Cancer Trust program in the U.K. to this inaugural program at UCLA," Plant said. "The caring and support the program provides have made a huge difference in the lives of many teens and young adults who are battling cancer."
The new program — the first of its kind in the United States — will build on the previous successful efforts of the Teenage Cancer Trust, which has helped fund 19 special teen cancer units in the United Kingdom.
One of the goals of the program is to create rooms built around a common lounge area where young cancer patients can hang out with one another.
